I awoke the other
morning with 4 words on my mind….I said them over and over so I wouldn’t forget
them. I felt the Lord was speaking to
me. He does that sometimes- through my
dreams.
Press - Impress -
Repress - Depress
Why these words?
I looked up the
definitions:
Press – to exert
weight or force against, move forward.
Impress – to press
one thing onto another.
Repress – hold back,
stop.
Depress – press down,
lower.
After thinking about
what I was supposed to take from these words…I began to see a comparison to our
Christian walk. So over the next few
days…we will ponder these words together!
PRESS
Every day, we are to
press forward; press on…never stop
moving, learning, growing working. I
know nothing about basketball, but this term just came to mind: FULL
COURT PRESS. (Of course I had to Google
it)
“A full-court press is a basketball
term for a defensive style in which the defense applies man-to-man or zone defense
to pressure the offensive team the entire length of the court before and after
the inbound pass. A full-court
press takes a great deal of effort, but can be an effective tactic. Often when
teams are behind late in a game, they will apply full-court pressure as a means
of attempting to produce turnovers as well as tire opponents.” (Wikipedia)
Wow, there is a
WHOLE sermon in that! I believe it is
late in the game. We are the defense. I believe we
are behind. As Christians we need to be
in FULL COURT PRESS MODE!!
We need to be using man-to-man and zone defense!! We need turnovers!! We need to
tire our opponent!!!!!
PRESS ON!
Phil 3:12 NIV - Not that I have already obtained
all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of
that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
